STEM Week Is Here! 🚀🔬🧪💻 Our district-wide STEM Week celebration has officially begun. Throughout this week, we'll showcase some amazing work happening in our STEM classrooms. Today's highlight comes from our High School, where Ms. Kelly's Game Design II course students have completed their first 3D games using Unity! In "Cube Highway," players navigate obstacles that spawn towards them - dodge successfully or face a dramatic GAME OVER explosion. These talented students have applied complex coding concepts using C#, worked in 3D space, implemented variable tracking for features like "Time Survived," designed camera angles, created particle effects, and much more. Currently, they're each adding a unique feature to their games before advancing to their next major project. This is just one example of the innovative STEM education happening in our schools. Stay tuned all week as we feature more incredible student projects and learning experiences!

Keith Valley students had an incredible opportunity when they welcomed French CEO Anastasia from the Paris-based perfume company Sulékó! This hands-on cultural experience allowed students to explore the fascinating world of French perfumery. Students discovered the science behind perfume creation, how scents connect to memory and brain function, essential French vocabulary in the perfume industry, and the artistry of combining different essential oils. These immersive cultural experiences bring learning to life and create lasting memories for our students. Merci beaucoup to Anastasia and Sulékó for this wonderful opportunity, and a special thanks to the HHEF Professional in Residency Grant for making this enriching cultural exchange possible!

2 Hour Delay
As wintry conditions occur through the evening and into the morning, we are closely monitoring the weather and its impact on safely operating schools. To ensure a safe arrival to school, we will operate on a two-hour delay schedule tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12. Our operations staff will be in early on Wednesday to clear the walkways and parking lots. If conditions worsen overnight and we are unable to prepare for a safe arrival, we will communicate this to staff and families no later than 6:30 am tomorrow, and shift to a full closure. Morning childcare services will begin at 8:30 am. School breakfast and lunch will be served. If the weather dictates that schools fully close, we will shift to a virtual learning day. This would mark our third emergency weather day, initiating a shift from a traditional "snow day" to virtual learning. Principals from each school have provided specific details to families about the virtual learning protocols. Thank you, and please be safe.
